Don’t Worry, Be Happy:))

happy, happiness, love

There is something I’ve been really tested with during this whole skin detox: remaining happy and upbeat! On certain days, I’m filled with next to no energy, and my skin continues to take quite a beating. Even though I’ve read that severe skin detoxes can take anywhere from three to four months, or in some cases, even more than that, I’m ready for  all the toxins to leave–once in for all!! It’s only been six and a half weeks, but I’m ready for everything to clear out now, so I can go back to my regular, happy self.

Not being able to train my daily martial arts has been quite an adjustment, but I got to keep telling myself this too shall pass, and I’ll be right back in class like it was only yesterday. Throughout the past two weeks, one particular documentary has been my go-to source of  bringing back my smile; it’s entitled Happy and for under twenty dollars , you can see all the ways to keep that smile going from ear to ear for yourself! I’ve watched the film almost a dozen times in less than six months, and it never seems to get old for me; you see people, with little to no money or other physical issues, making the most of their time on earth being happy, loving, and most importantly, ALIVE…

This makes me Happy...ear to ear:))

This makes me Happy…ear to ear:))

Another wonderful aspect of the Happy film is that it puts everything that is going on in my life in perspective. There are people basically living in dirt, with limited, or no,  access to the basic necessities and resources to living life, so my skin issues drop significantly on the ol’ what’s more important scale. It was amazing to see these people from all over the world living very simplistic, healthy,  and active lifestyles, without obsessing about money, or having more fancy clothes. Thanks to this documentary, I plan on living the same approach a lot of these people exhibited in the film–nice, simple, active, and loving! Without giving you the whole premise of the movie, I would highly suggest getting a copy and watching with your friends and family:)

Before I go, I’d like to hear your opinions of the movie if you’ve seen it, or what you do that brings you happiness and back down to center?

  1. Literally, I just got done watching this movie on Netflix. Hmmm….no coincidence I am sure. At any rate, I feel that everyone should watch this movie at least three times. And, I think there should be a sequel or two or three. Without giving away too much of the movie, I just want to share that the most compelling part of the movie (for me) was the information on Japan and how their health is being affected. What a great lesson and eye opener. It definitely gave me perspective and appreciation into my own life. Thanks for sharing ‘Happy’ with us Jon! And for those of you that are really inspired by this movie, I highly recommend doing a little research on positive psychology! Cheers!

    • Haha, that I would say is perfect timing Pamela :) ) I’m right there with you because this stuff should be made into a mini-series or something along those lines! I was always under the impression that Japan was a happy overall place, but that was very alarming to say the least; on the other side, it was interesting to see why and how Okinawan’s have the most hundred year-old people in the world:)

      • Yes, a mini-series! Love it! I wasn’t surprised about Japan because of all of the corporate business it is known for. It was just a beautiful reminder from the Universe (to me) that I am on the right track in regards to my own health and wellness. I have a friend who use to work for Shell Oil Company in downtown Houston until his body couldn’t handle it anymore and he manifested a bleeding ulcer. He was forced to realize his health wasn’t worth the money and made the choice of his health.

This movie was very much in alignment with the research that has been done on the “Blue Zones”. For those who are passionate about their health, these are all great resources. By the way Jon, keep pressing forward with your detox!

        • It’s like this one person I listen to said, “peoples’ well-being is always secondary to monetary gain.” Thanks a lot for the words of encouragement, and have a great weelekend with your family :) )

  2. I’m so curious. Can’t wait to see Happy.

  3. What a coincidence that I’m reading your post now… Just when I was starting to complain about…well…everything. I usually just mentally repeat all my goals in life when I feel like crap. But it doesn’t always work.

I’ll definitely watch that documentary! I guess it is necessary to be reminded from time to time how blessed some of us are today.

I’ll come back and drop a few lines after I’ve watched it :) .

    • Linkage, I know exactly what you mean, and this film will show you that there is so many things to be happy about;) Definitely let me know what you think :)

  4. There are no coincidences in life; just divine intervention. I have been looking at the subject of happiness for sometime. I even own Marci Shimoff’s book “Happy For No Reason”. Haven’t read it yet. Still too depressed. :) I loved the movie and will watch it again. May even buy it to pass around. I have had low grade melancholy my entire life and have been trying to understand what happiness looks like. I’m journaling in depth about this subject. It’s something I’d like to blog about but struggling to do it in an upbeat manner. Thanks for putting me onto the documentary. It’s helping with the focus.

    • If you keep knocking on its door, it will eventually find you :) After all those years of man-made toxins going inside of me are finally flushed out, it will be nothing but happiness :)
