I think the first Pro-HFCS commercial I witnessed was the funny one where the couple was at a designated picnic area, sharing some laughs and food. The mood seemed to switch up a tad when the boyfriend had pointed out that the ice pop—that his girlfriend was looking to shove down his throat–had HFCS as a prominent ingredient; she then followed up by saying what’s wrong with that and the guy just sat dumbfounded and didn’t know what to say next, but he knew it was bad. The commercial concludes with the narrator telling us that “sugar is just sugar”, and there is “ABSOLUTELY” nothing wrong with consuming it.
The other one that sticks out in my head is the party scenario where the lady refuses ketchup because of the HFCS count; the other lady indirectly tells her she is crazy and basically smothers her burger with it all over—quite comical if you ask me. BTW, if you haven’t seen, or even heard of any of these, just go on YouTube because I’m pretty sure there are a few more to get a few laughs out of, as well as some corporate lies thrown in there as well. Here is a a very informative read, The Sugar Fix: The High-Fructose Fallout That Is Making You Fat and Sick, that goes into why you should stay clear from this additive!!
Any way you look at it, there are so many unanswered questions about the potential harm of ingesting this added sweetener. From my personal experiences, any time I have a product with it in there, I will feel off almost instantaneously; anywhere from a beating headache, a sick stomach, or my skin feeling dry and clammy, HFCS isn’t ever going back into my system!!
What have your experiences been with products that have it in them? Do you go through the same symptoms as me?
Here is a better idea and understanding of what HFCS consists of:
High fructose corn syrup is made from corn starch that does not have enough sugar in it naturally to be called a sweetener – so the corn must be altered in a lab and only then is fructose chemically bonded to make it sweet. Of course, the corn that’s used is genetically modified – adding to the toxic burden within the human body.
Can you believe they call this crap “natural”? Artifically-created fructose is processed in the body through the liver, rather than digested in the intestines and this is what makes fructose a hazardous chemical. Just to be clear – no one should be eating this stuff – ever!
The untold dangers of eating high fructose corn syrup (HFCS)
A study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry claimed; when HFCS is heated it forms toxic substances such as hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF). Several products with HFCS were tested by an agricultural research group which found this toxic chemical and discovered that HMF breaks down into other substances even more deadly.
Researchers have established that the toxic substances within high-fructose corn syrup have led to “colony collapse disorder”, a mysterious disease, which has killed at the very least one-third of the honeybee population in the United States. It seems some beekeepers feed it to bees to increase honey production. This is important data since HMF has been linked to DNA damage in humans.
The potential dangers are great considering that high fructose corn syrup is subjected to high temperatures and consumed in such high quantities within Western diets.
The real reason HFCS is so deadly to human health:
There is an accumulating body of clinical evidence demonstrating that the combination of ingredients used to make high fructose corn syrup do not work naturally within human physiology. In fact, HFCS is a major reason why satiety levels are never achieved by eating processed, junk food. Allow me to explain.
Resistant starch, a type of carbohydrate, found in many natural foods such as, fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes are not entirely broken down by the body because it resists the process hence the name “resistant”. This starch passes into the large intestine intact just the way fiber does. Once it reaches the large intestine – it is fermented, which creates a beneficial fatty acid called butyrate which causes stored body fat to be used for fuel.
The lists of foods to avoid are factory-farmed (conventional) meats; condiments such as ketchup, soups, sodas, crackers, cookies, cakes, breads, salad dressing, jellies, peanut butter, and fast food. Be good to yourself – buy as much organic and natural whole foods as possible. By avoiding processed foods – you’ll experience health benefits beyond imagination.
